Using existing Vultr servers with Cleavr

Hi,

I see that Cleavr has an integration with Vultr for provisioning new servers. However, in the documentation it also mentions that you can connect to a custom server as long as it runs Ubuntu 20.04.

My question is:

  • Can I connect an existing Vultr server (currently in use) to Cleavr?
  • If yes, could I run into the issues mentioned in the “Custom” section of the VPS profiles docs? Are there recommended steps or gotchas to be aware of (for example, conflicts if NGINX or other web services are already installed)?

I’d like to know if others have successfully connected existing Vultr servers, or if it’s better practice to always start with a fresh instance created via Cleavr’s Vultr integration.

You could still connect to an existing server, but we don’t recommend it. It’s best to start with a fresh server with Cleavr.
