Issue when trying to create a backup

I keep getting this error when trying to create a backup on s3, previously the save configuration was working fine.

operation error S3: CreateBucket, … api error IllegalLocationConstraintException: The unspecified location constraint is incompatible for the region specific endpoint this request was sent to.

looks like it’s trying to create a bucket

Can you please share which region you have your S3 bucket in?

the region I’m using is Europe (Frankfurt) eu-central-1
the same credential was working before on cleavr

Others have reported similar issues and I’m looking to see how I can repro so hopefully this helps.

Ok - I am able to repro the issue when targeting Frankfurt. I’ll see if this is the commonality. Germany has been doing some interesting things lately policy-wise so I’m wondering if that may somehow be related.

I believe I found a fix for this. @don thanks for helping me with repro steps!

We’ll work on the fix internally and will get it out as soon as we can.

The fix has been deployed.

The fix takes effect for new backup jobs you configure. You don’t need to create a new backup profile, just a new backup job on the server.

You can then remove the previous backup job.
